The Madison ECOPET Lab is looking to recruit MSc (MELS: Master of Environmental and Life Sciences) and Undergraduate honours thesis students (15:449) interested in working on projects related to:
- Environmental DNA (eDNA) surveying of aquatic and terrestrial biota.
- Development and evaluation of environmental surveying tools using lab-to-field methods.
- Fish abundance and invertebrate biodiversity surveys and population genetics in and around the Westman region.
- The effects of environmental and water quality factors on fatty acid metabolism in fish species.
- Watershed contaminant effects on aquatic biota (e.g., agrochemicals, organic pollutants, metals)
- Anthropogenic habitat alternation (e.g., riparian zone development, watershed connectivity, restoration and conservation)
- Citizen Science and community surveillance programs focused on invasive species (e.g., Zebra/Quagga mussels, Squeal on Pigs, Rusty crayfish, etc.)
